The four-bed flat that costs £273,000 to rent

For sale: £275,000
One month’s rent costs far more than the purchase price of the average UK house
A London flat has been put on the market with a monthly rent of more than a quarter of a million pounds. The furnished four-bedroom flat on Park Lane is being advertised for £273,000 per month, or £63,000 per week if you prefer a more short-term stay.
So what do you get for your money? Well, there’s a concierge service, daily maid service and 24-hour security. As for the flat, or penthouse as the brochure describes it, you get spacious living and dining areas with gas fires and a bespoke study area with a selection of books and games.
There’s also a “fully equipped kitchen including gas cook top, oven, fridge with ice machine, cooking utensils, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, fine china and glassware for 12 guests,” according to the brochure. There’s even a television in the bathroom – we’re not sure how hygienic the remote will be but we suppose it is a good way to pass the time.
Media room
Elsewhere in the flat, there’s a media room with large, flat screen television and games consoles, as well as a private balcony
“This beautiful four-bedroom penthouse [offers] the most private and secure environment in London,” the brochure continues. “Residents are provided with their own access cards to gain entrance beyond the ground floor lobby, with 24-hour security and a dedicated concierge to ensure any requests are immediately seen to.
“The apartment combines the services of a five-star accommodation, comfort and security of a private Mayfair residence situated on London’s exclusive Park Lane, opposite Hyde Park.”
Bedroom
After all, the average UK house costs less than £240,000 to buy outright, which would leave you more than enough money to decorate exactly how you’d like (TV in the bathroom and all).
Alternately, for an almost identical sum you could buy this four-bedroom, detached home in Chester, currently on sale for £275,000 (pictured below). It even comes with a £1,000 buyer’s incentive…
