Chris Brown recorded a
track with then-girlfriend Rihanna for his latest album X, but now he
reportedly wants it removed. The 24-year-old rap artist had been planning to
include the song Put It Up that he sings with Rihanna, 25, but now that their
romance has cooled he isn't so keen on it. Chris is apparently stalling the
album's release until he sees the combined musical effort cut from the track
listing. According to Billboard, Chris' sixth studio album, X, is scheduled to
be made available on July 16. 'Record execs wanted that
song on there, but Chris said he would rather not and wouldn't allow the record
to be released unless they took it off,' a source told HollywoodLife.com. 'They're still hoping to
convince Chris or pay him more to change his mind because it would be a hit. 'The
record hasn't been pressed yet, so things can change, but at this point he's
not changing his mind.' Chris is said to have split with Rihanna earlier this
month because she was 'too needy' and wanted him to be with her 'all the time,'
the website reported. Prior to their break up, the singer said working with
Rihanna was 'effortless'. 'It flows easily. What works with us is we have
similar ways of creating music,' Chris told HollywoodLife.com in
April. It's thought the couple's conflicting schedules also may have
contributed to their split.
'She's beautiful. She's on
tour and our schedules don't allow us to be as close as we want to be. But
everything is good. She will be on my album,' Chris told USA Today back in
March. Chris first dated Rihanna in 2008 but they split in 2009 after he was
convicted of assault for beating her, only to rekindle the relationship in
January of this year. He is now thought to be dating Karrueche Tran.
Rihanna meanwhile is
travelling on her Diamonds World Tour and, following a stint in London, was
seen boarding a private jet with her family to Sunderland, England on Thursday.
