Six reasons why Godswill Akpabio is not a reckless spender - Chief Press Secretary

Akwa Ibom state is currently the highest oil and gas producing state in the country...so yes, the state is one of the richest in Nigeria, if not the richest! And the state governor, Godswill Akpabio, likes to spend money...some people will say, recklessly! His press secretary, pastor Anietie Ukpe, has released a statement giving us six reasons why Governor Akpabio is not a reckless money spender. See it below...
1. All the money so far spent was budgeted and did not in any way negatively impact on the fortunes of Akwa Ibom and the people of the state.
2. The governor promised and actually donated only one Toyota Prado SUV to Tuface Idibia and his wife, Annie Macaulay, not two such vehicles, as was wrongly reported. When the most respected Highlife living legend, Dr. Victor Abimbola Olaiya, was honoured with the latest model of Toyota Avensis saloon car by Governor Fayemi of Ekiti State to mark his 80th birthday, did anybody complain?

Mikel Obi OPENS up on Hardship of finding a WIFE

Mikel Obi recently spoke to Kayode Tijani about his life and other issues. But this is what caught our attention in the interview; where he spoke about marriage.

'I know, normal people don't go through what I am going through now when it concerns finding a Wife to marry, and normal people don't at all. Believe me it's so so difficult, very difficult, it's so so difficult you just have to leave it to God. There might be someone who really loves me truly for who I am but I may not be aware and maybe you don't know... or you may think she's one of those who loves you for who you are or what you have, or because of your money, maybe she's there for you, you never know, you get so confused, now I have decided I will just leave it to God to decide who I get married to'.

Armed Robbers Serve Residents Notice of Attack at Ijeshatedo, Lagos “Be prepared for us”

It seems a group of notorious robbers in Lagos want to change the norm of taking their victims by surprise and have chosen to give notice of their heinous acts before striking.
At Ronke Street, Ijeshatedo, Lagos and its environs, residents are in a state of panic over a letter purportedly written to them by armed robbers alerting them of their intention to raid the area.
Sun News reports that copies of the letter were conspicuously pasted on the wall of some of the buildings in the middle of the night.
Part of the letter read: “We will pay you people a visit soon. Be prepared for us.
The development has led some of the residents to upgrade the security features of their homes, while some of them have even fled the area.
From the account of some of the residents, armed robbers have terrorized them on several occasions. One of them who was yet to recover from the shock of a previous experience told Sun News:
Late last year, they visited my house heavily-armed. They took every valuable thing in the house and left. They were about eight of them. The next day, the same group of people came to the next compound and robbed the residents. When we called the police, all they did was to arrest the ladder the robbers used to climb and promised to investigate the matter. Till date, nothing has happened.
When contacted, the Lagos State police spokesperson, DSP Ngozi Braide, called on the residents not to panic saying the police would ensure that the bad boys were flushed out from Ijeshatedo and its environs. She advised residents to make use of the police hotlines which are written conspicuously in every police station and public places.
It is bad enough that there is a huge security lapse. Putting fear in the minds of residents must definitely be an uncomfortable situation. We hope something is done by the relevant authorities to address the situation.

Dentist May Have Exposed 7,000 Patients to HIV, Hepatitis

Dentist may have exposed patients to HIV
A Tulsa, Oklahoma dentist is under investigation for serious health violations that may have exposed as many as 7,000 patients to HIV and hepatitis. Yahoo News reports that Dr. Wayne Harrington is under investigation by the state dental board, the state bureau of narcotics and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency after one of his patients recently tested positive for hepatitis C and HIV with no known risk factors other than having dental work performed by Harrington.
A surprise inspection conducted by the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry found numerous health code violations including expired narcotics stored in unlocked cabinets; re-using needles; allowing unlicensed assistants to administer medications; and cleaning open wounds with bleach until the wounds “turned white.”

Lil Wayna Says He's Epileptic

Lil Wayne Epileptic
Rapper Lil Wayne is attempting to deflect rumors of his alleged drug use by saying he is epileptic. Epilepsy can be an acute (new) or chronic (longstanding) disruption of signals in the brain that results in controlled or uncontrolled convulsions (seizure activity).

In an interview with LA’s Power 106 on Thursday, Wayne, 30, said epilepsy is the reason behind his multiple hospitalizations — not his reported addiction to Promethazine/Codeine prescription cough syrup (aka Sizzurp or Purple Drank), which can also cause epileptic seizures.

Banky W's Speech At The 5th Annual Bola Tinubu Colloquium In Lagos

I recently celebrated my birthday… I was fortunate enough to go to Dubai to attend my friend Tuface Idibia’s wedding… and I want to start off my speech by showing you a couple of pictures of Dubai, because what I saw there inspired me.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is the same oil that was discovered there in the 1960’s that they used to transform that society. The very same oil that was discovered here. But what have our leaders done with it?
Benjamin Franklin once said “when you’re finished changing, you’re finished”. I’d like to take that a step further by saying “we must be a part of the change we seek, or risk being changed ourselves”.
The question is no longer “will Nigeria change”… but rather, it’s “will it change for the better or worse” and “who will lead that change”.

Kim K names Baby

Kim Kardashian baby names
Kim Kardashian, who is pregnant with Kanye West’s baby, has chosen a name for the baby.Kim appeared on last night’s Tonight Show where she discussed the highs and lows of being a first-time expectant mother. When Jay Leno asked her about baby name rumors, she gladly cleared that up.

“We have a list,” she told Leno. And some of them are ‘K’ names, some of them aren’t. [North] is not on our list, she said with a smirk.
“But you know what name I do like,” she said with a smile. “I like Easton – Easton West. I think that’s cute.” Kim added that the name Easton is not on Kanye’s approved list of names… yet.
Kim didn’t mention if “South” or “Mid” were on the list of approved baby names.

Tiara Thomas tells us how groupie anthem was created “Bad”

Tiara Thomas and Wale
Singer Tiara Thomas, best known for her duet with Wale on his single “Bad”, explained how the groupie anthem came about.
“There was this rap song called ‘Some Cut’ by Trillville. It used to be one of my favorite songs when I was younger. It’s really vulgar. I wanted to find a way to cover the song and make it sound pretty,” she says. “I started singing the words and then I just freestyled and started singing. I was like, ‘Dang, that’s tight!”

A TALE of 2 Quotes

"We cannot continue to waste resources meant for a greater number of Nigerians to subsidise the affluent middle class, who are the main beneficiaries (of fuel subsidy). We believe that as we progress, government is going to continue to enlighten Nigerians on the need to remove fuel subsidy" ~ President Goodluck Jonathan - January 2012

"Finally, for the avoidance of doubt and at the risk of being repetitive, this administration is not considering the issue of removal of fuel subsidy in the nearest future and certainly will not embark on any such programme without extensive consultations and engagements across the various segments, interests and stakeholders in the Nigerian polity."~ Doyin Okupe (SSA to President Jonathan on Public Affairs) - March 2013

17-Year-Old Spends Eight Years In Jail For ‘Wandering’

It was a moment of joy recently for the mother of a prison inmate that had been awaiting trial since 2005. Mrs. Maria Emmanuel danced and shouted with joy on the court premises of the Lagos High Court, sitting in Igbosere when Justice Deborah Oluwayemi released her son, Paul Samuel.
Five other awaiting trial inmates were also released by the court. They included Fatai Amidu, Adebayo Owuade, Gabriel Samuel, Mike Ofoje and Lawal Karimu.
Speaking with Daily Sun, Mrs. Samuel, a police corporal at Egbe Idimu Local Government Area (and whose husband is a retired soldier), said she had tried all efforts to cause her son to be released from prison – all to no avail. She noted that her son was not arraigned since he was arrested at Maryland, Lagos, in 2005 and had been awaiting advice from Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) since then.

Scalia Furious He Has to Hear About Gay Couples All Week

scalia-listening-580.jpg
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In an outburst that shocked many onlookers at the Supreme Court today, Justice Antonin Scalia said that it made him “angry beyond belief” that he had to listen to people talking about gay couples all week.

As Justice Anthony Kennedy questioned whether it was appropriate for the Court to hear a case about same-sex marriage at this time, Mr. Scalia stunned observers with an emotional outburst.
“O.K., could we just stop talking about this stuff right now?” Justice Scalia snapped at Justice Kennedy. “I’ve told you all how I feel about this topic, and I don’t understand why we’re going on and on about it unless you all hate me.”
As the courtroom froze in dead silence, Justice Scalia seemed to gather steam, shouting, “For two days, it’s been gay this, gay that. You’re all just talking about this stuff as if it’s the most normal thing in the world. Well, it’s not, O.K.? It’s weird and it’s wrong. And just talking about it like it’s O.K. and whatnot is making me angry beyond belief.”
As the other justices averted their eyes, Justice Scalia broke down, sobbing that he wished “things were normal, the way they used to be.”

Noble Igwe - Letter To My Future Wife

Have you read Noble Igwe's letter to his future wife already? If not please do. So romantic! The letter came up again yesterday when the #dearfuturewife thing started trending on twitter.
    Dear Future Wife,
I don’t know what you look like, if you are out here or reading this right now! If you are, please print this letter and bring it to our wedding reception. It will make a good read before our guests. They say behind every successful man is a woman. I’ll like to say that behind every successful man is a good woman because I’ve seen men that have shut down their businesses because they got involved with the wrong woman.
I want to be successful and I need to find you right now more than ever. You may not know how much I need you but I come home every night with stories that I would love to share with someone special. I come home late from clubs sometimes wishing you’d be in bed waiting for me to hug your warm body. Your slot in my life is so empty it hurts because I know you are out there without me.

Pope Francis Washes & Kisses Prisoners' Feet On Maundy Thursday

Pope Francis has washed and kissed the feet of 12 detainees in a youth detention centre near Rome as part of the Maundy Thursday service. The Christian ritual takes place on the Thursday before Easter to commemorate Christ’s Last Supper.
Thousands of pilgrims and tourists are arriving in Rome to attend ceremonies during the holy week ahead of Easter. In a homily, Pope Francis earlier urged priests to do less “soul-searching” and engage more with parishioners.
“It is not in soul-searching… that we encounter the Lord,” the Pope told hundreds of cardinals, priests and bishops in St Peter’s Basilica.
“We need to go out… to the outskirts where there is suffering, bloodshed, blindness that longs for sight and prisoners in thrall to many evil masters.” Worshipers should “leave Mass looking as if they had heard good news”, he added.
And on Easter Sunday morning, Pope Francis will deliver his first “Urbi et Orbi” message to the city of Rome and to the world.

OJB Jezreel: People Didn't Download Tonto Dikeh's Songs Out Of Love, But Out Of Surprise

Here is what music producer, OJB Jezreel said to Tribune about Tonto Dikeh's song in a recent interview;
“The problem is that she wasn’t listening to the key thing. People did not download the song out of love but out of surprise. If she really wants to go into music professionally, she needs to take out her time and learn how to sing.
It’s a lot easier to cross into acting from singing but a lot harder to cross into singing from acting. If after her first single, she got better people to coach and produce her songs, she might not have complained so much but there was no improvement.
As far as I’m concerned, Tonto Dike’s delving into the music industry is a bad idea right now. Her wanting to sing is not bad but her thinking that on the platform of the fact that she is a movie star, so she can sing, is a very bad idea.”

Why I’m Marrying My Husband Again: (Real Housewives of Atlanta) Nene Leakes

NeNe Leakes and greg getting married again
NeNe Leakes met her husband Greg at her place of work, a seedy strip club. Exotic dancers are more proficient at controlling their emotions to avoid the temptations of falling for every man who tosses a dollar their way. That explains why, when real love does come along, their unions tend to withstand the test of time.
Married for 14 years, the Leakes are ready to renew their vows again, In Touch Weekly reports exclusively. “This time around, we’ll work together as a team more,” NeNe told In Touch.

Chude Jideonwo: Don’t Get It Twisted, Anger is Good

There is a new movement – that of the anti-activist activist. People who have made it their business to turn against those who have made it their business to criticise government or politicians.
Well, all of them presumably love Nigeria – those who are working, those who criticize those who are working, and those who are watching the watchers. Each has a role of play, and as long as modern societies run most effectively in an atmosphere of checks and balances, then formal and informal structures that cause iron to sharpen iron are necessary.
One of the easiest targets for this new wrath has been the new breed of new-media-powered activists – especially on Twitter, Facebook and blogs. The critics say they are too angry, they are too bitter; their minds are too narrow. They say ‘social media will not change Nigeria’.
Broadly, the critics are right – much of the conversation among young people is neither purposeful nor constructive; many of the people leading this anger movement are themselves questionable characters. Sometimes in cahoots with the same people they angrily denounce, most times transparently fanning the flames simply for personal aggrandizement. Rightly so, much of the conversation doesn’t – cannot – lead to any solved problems.
But here is the deal – none of this means that it is ultimately useless.

Presidency Reacts to Speculations on Subsidy Removal

The Presidency has reacted to media speculations that there was a plan by the Federal Government to remove the petroleum subsidy.
The recent comment made by President Goodluck Jonathan at the Economic Summit held in Lagos, where he said government would not continue to subsidise the price of petrol, sparked up speculations that the FG would remove petroleum subsidy.
The Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe however dismissed the speculation, describing President Jonathan’s contribution as a “frank, intellectual and well articulated contribution.”
Below is his statement made available to Tribune:

Dooney’s Kitchen: Pounded Yam & Banga Soup the Easy Way

i love african food which is why am putting up this post lol enjoy
My heritage is half Delta, half Yoruba, so of course, cooking Banga Soup is in my genes. Is it a complicated dish? Yes and No. Using Dooney’s Kitchen Tips and Cheats I’ll guide you through it.
Traditionally Banga soup is made with fresh fish, especially catfish. My father would swear up and down about the origins of Banga Soup, Urhobo to be specific. Whoever lays claim to it, one thing is certain, it came from an area where fresh fish was a staple of the local cuisine. So if you see a recipe using meat, personal preference maybe but I’m a modern cook, who respects tradition.

Imo State Deputy Governor Impeached for Allegedly Taking N417 Million Bribe

The Deputy Governor of Imo State Jude Agbaso has been impeached from office after a prolonged battle over the allegation that he demanded for and collected bribes.
Twenty five out of twenty six members of the Imo State House of Assembly voted in favour of the impeachment, Channels TV reports.
His impeachment comes just hours after the High Court dismissed the suit he filed, asking it to stop his impeachment by the state Assembly. He also asked the court to restrain the Nigerian Police from harassing him or acting upon the recommendations of the House of Assembly against him. His case was however thrown out of court earlier today for “lack of merit”
Agbaso allegedly demanded and collected the sum of N417 Million from a construction firm handling the reconstruction of Sam Mbakwe Road, Owerri. He however denied the allegation.
Following his impeachment, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Imo State, Eze Madumere, has been cleared by the state House of Assembly to replace him as Deputy Governor.

Read Chocolate City’s Official Press Release on Jesse Jagz

There’s hardly anyone that can say that Jesse Jagz‘s departure from his former Record Label, Chocolate City was not a huge shock to them. As such, a lot of different stories have been milling around, making allegations as to why the huge surprise split occurred. So, to clear the air and also, to verify and negate some of these allegations, Chocolate City has released an official statement via their new PR company, World PR Media.
The statement goes thus:

In 2013, 40 Abuja Towns Still Kill Twins! A Missionary Recounts Bizarre Traditional Practices in the FCT

It's been 98 years since the death of Mary Slessor, the Scottish missionary to Nigeria who led crusades that stopped some societies from killing twin babies at birth. Such births were seen then as taboo and not tolerated.... it seems some communities in Nigeria, even today, are out to rubbish and undo what Slessor did.  It might shock you to hear that there is still a community that still sees twins or multiple birth as abomination... it is more confounding to find that the communities are in the nation’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT). How awful!m According to Olusola Stevens and his wife. Stevens is the North Central Director of the Christian Missionary Foundation (CMF).
