Dino Melaye attacked by Facebook friends

A former member, House of Representatives, Dino Melaye, has come under heavy attack from his Facebook friends over his comments about the 2013 Democracy Day celebration.

Melaye had told his over 6,000 fans on Facebook that there was nothing to celebrate about Democracy Day in Nigeria. But, unlike the past, when his opinion about the polity was applauded on the social service, many of his fans did not agree with him.

He had said, “We have nothing to celebrate today being Democracy Day. Nigeria is sick, the midterm performance of Mr. President is a beautiful nonsense. We must wake up and ask questions on why we are where we are. Come out of your cocoon, fellow Nigerians, and let’s rescue our dear country from political demons and financial scavengers.”

One of the first set of comments on his Facebook wall was from Afam Chukwuwike, who argues that there is no difference between Melaye and those who  he has over time openly criticised on social media in the past. While trying to prove a point that Melaye is not  on the side of the masses, as he claims to be on the social media, Chukwuwike challenged Melaye to prove that the bullet proof cars he cruises in around town as well as his mansions in Abuja and Kogi State were acquired before he joined politics.

In an interview with HipHop World recently, Weird MC reportedly said she has no plan of marriage in her mind for now. She was quoted to have said that her album release is paramount to her not marriage. 

Hear her, "I don't have time for that (marriage). It's not even in my plans. Right now, I've got an album coming out, so that's not in my plans."

“Checking on our place,” she announced two days later. To the Kardashians, LA will feel empty without Kim and her new bundle of joy, with the source adding: “Kim’s a first-time mom, and Kris wants to help her as much as possible,” another insider tells the publication. “Kim’s also worried — she wants Kris to visit Paris a lot.”

It’s not really the dresses we are highlighting – it’s more of how our prints could be used for a bridal party. The story behind this photo collage is what our Eki Bridesmaids get up to before the wedding – basically, a modern take on bridesmaids. We did about 3 location shots – a couple from the Church, a garden shoot. The images have all been placed behind one of our prints, as what we are promoting here are our prints. Michael Adebowale has appeared in court for the first time since being charged with the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby who was hacked to death outside his army barracks in Woolwich last week. The 22-year-old, from Greenwich, was flanked in the dock by two police officers and two guards amid tight security at Westminster Magistrates' Court. Wearing handcuffs, a grey sweater and white trousers, he was told that he did not need to stand up because he was injured after being shot by police. Adebowale is accused of murdering Drummer Rigby on May 22, as well as possessing a firearm, a 9.4mm KNIL Model 91 Revolver, with intent to cause others to believe that violence would be used.

A prosecutor told the court his alleged crime falls under terrorism law. Adebowale spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the short hearing and will next appear at the Old Bailey on June 3. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Service's Counter Terrorism Command said last night they had been authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to charge him over last Wednesday's attack. Sue Hemming, head of the CPS Special Crime and Counter-Terrorism Division, said: 'Crown prosecutors have been working with the investigators of Counter Terrorism Command since the killing of Drummer Lee Rigby on 22 May.

According to a new study, fizzy drinks are not only bad for your body, they may also cause depression. The findings come from the US, where researches carried out a 10 year study which revealed that those who drank more than four cans of soft drinks a day were 30 per cent more likely to have depression than those who did not consume fizzy drinks.

Diet drinks appeared to have the highest correlation with depression.

Researcher Honglei Chen said: “While our findings are preliminary and the underlying biological mechanisms are not known, they are consistent with a small but growing body of evidence suggesting that artificially sweetened beverages may be associated with poor health.”

Gay Marriage: First Male Couple Wed In France

Two gay men have married in the south of France, becoming the first same-sex couple to wed in the country since a controversial change in the law just 10 days ago. Vincent Aubin and Bruno Boileau exchanged vows in Montpellier city hall before the mayor, relatives, friends and media as police stood guard outside to ensure the ceremony was not disrupted. "It's a great pleasure for me to declare you married by law," said Montpellier's left-wing Mayor Helene Mandroux, as the couple embraced to a huge cheer from an audience of about 500.
She earlier called the law that legalised gay marriage "a stage in the modernisation of our country". The couple married thanks to a reform that has stoked some of the fiercest French street protests in decades. On Sunday, hundreds of thousands of opponents of gay marriage flooded Paris in a rally that ended in clashes between police and hardliners. But, in the main, protesters stayed away from the wedding in Montpellier, France's self-proclaimed most gay-friendly city. The small demonstrations that did occur failed to disrupt the main event. Moments before the men walked in, a smoke bomb was lobbed from outside into the perimeter of the city hall. Security guards rushed to investigate, but the wedding went ahead.

Newborn 'Put In Freezer' By Dad For Crying

A father put his six-week-old daughter in a -12C freezer for about an hour to stop her crying, according to court papers. Doctors believe the baby will survive despite her core temperature falling to 28.8C in the freezer, prosecutors said. The National Institutes of Health says "a body temperature below 95F (35C) is a medical emergency and can lead to death if not treated promptly". She also had a broken arm and leg and a head injury.

Tyler James Deutsch, 25, pleaded not guilty to charges of child assault, criminal mistreatment and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence. According to court papers, Deutsch gave Pierce County sheriff's officers several accounts but finally said he put the child in the freezer on Saturday afternoon "because he was tired and she was crying”.

Deutsch said he fell asleep and only woke up as the baby's 22-year-old mother returned to their trailer in Roy, Washington.

He was seen removing the baby, who was wearing only a nappy, from the freezer by the mother as she came in, according to the prosecutor's account. Deutsch is accused of taking a phone away when she tried to call for help. The mother then took the child and got neighbours to call 911, authorities said.

ANDRE 3000′S MOTHER FOUND DEAD IN ATLANTA HOME ON HIS BIRTHDAY

Andre 3000′s mother, Sharon Benjamin-Hodo has recently passed away according to a rep for Andre 3000. While Billboard states that the reports of when she was discovered dead are unconfirmed, the date happen to coincide with Andre’s birthday (May 27th).

Sharon Benjamin-Hodo was the founder of an organization for underprivileged children which operated out of husband, Pastor Robert Hodo’s Conley, GA church New Morning Light Missionary Baptist Church. She was 58 years old when she passed. No official word from Andre’s camp as of yet.

Update: mother of baby freed from sewer pipe in China speaks out

The mother of the Chinese newborn rescued from a sewer pipe has said she kept her pregnancy secret after the father refused to stand by her and she could not afford an abortion.

The ordeal of Baby 59 – known only by the number of his hospital incubator – made headlines around the world after extraordinary footage was shown of firefighters and medics freeing him from the narrow pipe. Police in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, initially thought the baby had been abandoned and said they were treating the case as one of attempted homicide.

But they subsequently realised that the resident who had raised the alarm, and who remained present throughout the two-hour rescue on Saturday, was his mother. Local media said she told police she wanted to raise the child but had no idea how to do it.

The 22-year-old said she went to the shared bathroom when she felt abdominal cramps, state media reported. When the baby slipped into the sewer pipe she was unable to free him.

Shanghai Daily said police identified the woman as the likely mother on Monday and were still determining whether her story was true or she had intentionally dumped him. She reportedly confessed after they found blood-stained tissues and toys in her room and asked her to undergo a medical check.

Twenty six  years old Chibueze Mba, who was a few days ago arrested by detectives from the Special Anti Robbery Squad of the Lagos State police command for his involvement in a series of children theft and sale  has blamed his former father in law for his crime Chibueze had on Thursday afternoon confessed  to newsmen that he did not only sell kids of other parents but also that he  sold his first child for a paltry N30, 000 and that he had sold his unborn child for N200, 000.The Imo State born suspect also stated that he had made over a  million naira from the crime but he did not enjoy spending the money as a result of the fact that policemen were constantly on his trail. Chibueze , while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune stated that he got in contact with Mrs Benedicta Ogbonna , who later became his partner in crime , when he was looking for how to get rid of his girlfriend’s pregnancy

The suspect ,  while narrating the genesis of the whole story, said that his former father in law’s decision to send his daughter out of his house , after discovering that she was pregnant pushed him into the crime

Dana Aircrash: Almost a year 11 Families Get Full Compensation out of 146 victims

Mr. Tony Usidiamen, the airline’s spokesman, disclosed this in Lagos at a news conference to commemorate one year of the crash. According to Usidiamen, the 11 families have received full compensation of 100,000 U.S. dollars each while 95 others received an initial 30,000 U.S. dollars each. He said they all received the compensation as at May 25. Reports say that 153 passengers, including crew members, and six residents of the area died in the crash.

Besides, properties worth millions of naira were destroyed. Usiadiamen, flanked by Mr. Sam Ogbogoro, the Media Relations Officer of the airline and Mr. Obialor Mbanuzor, the Head of its Commercial Services Unit, said compensation would be paid to all victims provided they had valid document to back up their claims.

He added that the families of 20 other victims had submitted their letters of administration from the Probate Registry of Lagos State High Court. “The letters will be verified by the airline’s insurance firm, the Lyodds Insurance Company of London, for payment. “However, eight families did not submit any claim in respect of their lost family members; they may file their claims later,” he said.

Brymo has been rumored to be not-so-friendly with some members of the Choc family; and apart from the business side of things, it doesn’t seem like ‘The Son of a Kapenta’ will be sorely missed by his remaining label-mates.
