'I'm here as his partner, but he is his own man. He has to decide who he wants
to be and that's not for me to do for him,' she continued, adding that the
agreement goes both ways. Jada also credits
their strong friendship with helping their marriage to survive long past the
Hollywood average. She explained: 'Will is my best friend. He's been by my side for some of the
most difficult parts of my life. You always have that for your foundation.' The couple, who
married in December 1997, have endured split rumours in the past, but always
emerge on red carpets looking united as ever. Will and Jada made a
public appearance on Wednesday night in New York City, the actress looking
stunning in a canary yellow gown. Standing proudly by
her side, Will seemed a little entranced by his beautiful wife, as they held
court at the premiere of documentary Free Angela And All Political Prisoners,
on which they served as producers.
The actress earlier in the day had made an appearance on Good Morning America,
where she gave a follow-up to her recent Facebook essay about bullying. Jada - who is mum to
actor Jaden, 14, singer Willow, 12, and stepmother to Will's son Trey from a
previous relationship - has also been forced to defend her parenting skills and
recently penned an open letter on her Facebook page. 'It's been
interesting because I started with the idea of bullying but, I tell you
something, I've actually expanded my ideas on that after seeing all the press
on this particular subject. 'I think we have to
be very careful that we're not creating prejudiced attitudes... that you can
justify treating a person lesser than because of certain qualities,' she
explained.
